This 2025 amendment significantly modifies the annual renewal fees for Category "A" bank licences originally established in the banks-and-trust-companies-licence-applications-and-fees-regulations-2021.
Tiered Fee Structure for Category "A" Licences
The amendment replaces the flat fee for "A" licences (granted without restrictions) with a tiered structure based on the institution's total assets. The fees will escalate over a four-year period from 2026 to 2029.
Asset Categories and Fee Schedule
- Assets ≤ US$1.0 billion:
- Flat fee of CI$1,000,000 from 2026 onwards.
- US$1.0 billion < Assets ≤ US$3.0 billion:
- 2026: CI$1,000,000
- 2027: CI$1,200,000
- 2028: CI$1,500,000
- 2029 and thereafter: CI$1,750,000
- Assets > US$3.0 billion:
- 2026: CI$1,000,000
- 2027: CI$1,500,000
- 2028: CI$1,750,000
- 2029 and thereafter: CI$2,250,000
The same fee schedule applies whether the institution holds an "A" licence alone or an "A" licence combined with a Trust licence.
Asset Calculation
For the purpose of determining the applicable fee tier, total assets are calculated based on the average of total assets at the end of each of the four calendar quarters.
